Ansatt fikk alvorlige symptomer etter vaksinering i Fredrikstad

Personen er lagt inn til utredning på Sykehuset Østfold Kalnes.

Det kan ikke slås fast med sikkerhet at det er en sammenheng mellom symptomene og vaksineringen. Hendelsen er meldt til Folkehelseinstituttet (FHI) og Legemiddelverket.

Konsekvenser for vaksinasjonstempoet
Fredrikstad kommune har, etter råd fra Folkehelseinstituttet, satt bruken av AstraZeneca-vaksinen på pause. Les mer på FHIs sider.

Som følge av at Fredrikstad kommune skulle motta 500-600 doser av AstraZeneca vaksinen i uke 11, vil pausen på kort sikt få noe konsekvenser for vaksinasjonstempoet i kommunen. Vaksinasjon med Moderna- og Pfizer-vaksinene fortsetter imidlertid som planlagt.

Bivirkninger ved vaksinering
Alvorlige bivirkninger ved vaksinering er svært sjeldne, og oppstår i nær tilknytning til vaksinasjonen. De som allerede er vaksinert behøver dermed ikke å engste seg.

I Fredrikstad er det kun helsepersonell som har fått AstraZeneca-vaksinen.

Dose nr. to av AstraZeneca-vaksinen
For personer som allerede har fått første dose av AstraZeneca-vaksinen utsettes andre dose inntil videre. Effekten av dose nr. to vil ikke forringes som følge av en utsettelse av dose-to vaksinering. Ifølge FHI ser det ut til at AstraZeneca-vaksinen gir ganske god beskyttelse allerede etter at første dose er satt, og at denne beskyttelsen varer i minst tre måneder.

Incident of severe symptoms after vaccination in Fredrikstad

A member of staff at Fredrikstad Municipality has experienced severe symptoms shortly after receiving a dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine, Wednesday March 10.  

The individual is currently under medical observation at Østfold Kalnes Hospital. It is, as yet, unclear whether there is a link between the symptoms and the vaccine. The incidents has been reported to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health and The Norwegian Medicines Agency.

Minimal consequences to the vaccination programme  
Fredrikstad Municipality has, based on advice from The Norwegian Institute of Public Health, temporarily suspended further use of the vaccine.  

As Fredrikstad Municipality was due to receive 500-600 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine in week 11, the suspension is expected to partially affect the vaccination programme.   Vaccination with the Moderna and Pfizer injections will progress as planned.  

Vaccination side effects
Severe side effects after vaccination are very rare. As these typically develop soon after dose administration, individuals already vaccinated need not concern themselves.

Second AstraZeneca dose
Administration of the second dose of the AstraZeneca-vaccine, for those who have already received the first dose, has been temporarily suspended. The effect of dose two will not be diminished by the delay in administration.

According to The Norwegian Institute of Public Health the AstraZeneca vaccine appears to offer adequate protection after a single dose, and the protective effect lasts in upwards of three months.
